The Parent Power Program has a duration of 26 weeks with the participants spending a minimum of 30 hours per week on a combination of activities. A good majority of this time is being spent on Community Services Projects. These projects would include development of a self directory, parent health fair, and community kitchen. Other components include active living, self-awareness and parenting courses. The remainder of the time is focused on individual case plans which will determine each participants path throughout. Goals are clear and achievable, with steps clearly defined. Monitoring takes place on a continuous basis with necessary alterations being made as time goes on.
Our Parent Power Participants Say....
"Strength, Courage, Pride; these are three things that the Parent Power Program and the people at EPYDC helped me see in myself again. The strength to open and go on in my life. The courage to stand up for my beliefs and my family and to be proud of my accomplishments and myself. I started lost, scared and thinking I was a nobody. I ended the program knowing I'm somebody. Everyone there helped me bloom into a strong flower in the world of damaging winds and they will always be in my heart and every day in my life. Thank you, Still Strong."
"Parent Power has done so much for me. First of all they gave me a chance to prove what I am capable of as a single parent with four children. I went back to get my GED which I hope to write in July. I learned about all the amazing resources in Summerside. For example, TASS, Kids R First, and EPYDC to name a few. I feel I have been offered an amazing opportunity by obtaining full time employment in a position I wouldn't have been able without using everything I have taken from P.P.P. I hope that many more women get this amazing experience. Thank you to everyone that gave me this opportunity!"
The Parent Power Program thanks everyone who is offering their services to help and for the support it recieves from the community.
